APQN Board Member: Dr Jagannath Patil (Elected)

Dr Jagannath Patil

Dr Jagannath Patil is currently Deputy Adviser of NAAC (National Assessment and Accreditation Council) which is An Autonomous Institution of the University Grants Commission of India. He is currently leading an international Project group on ‘Student Participation in Quality Assurance’ under the auspices of Asia Pacific Quality Network-APQN.

A university toper in post graduate degree in Mass Communication, he was a recipient of fellowship for doctoral research. He has experience of over a decade in teaching, research and academic administration. He has also worked as journalist and written extensively on career opportunities for Indian youth.

He is convener member of several committees of NAAC and nodal officer for international affairs of NAAC pertaining to Asia Pacific Quality Network (APQN) and International Network of Quality Assurance Agencies in Higher Education (INQAAHE). As an Adviser of NAAC he has coordinated Peer Team Visits to more than 220 Higher Educational Institutions. He is also associated with organisation of large number of activities of NAAC including workshops, assessors training programmes and surveys. He continues his academic interest in Mass Communication as visiting faculty to Shivaji University & Bangalore University and associated with BOS and other academic bodies of many higher educational institutions. He is also a recognized research guide for Ph.D.

He has visited New Zealand, Singapore, Malaysia, South Africa, Thailand, China and the United States of America on academic assignments. He was co-opted as a Board Member of the Asia-Pacific Quality Network during a meeting held in Shanghai.

His work based on survey of accredited institutions in India on Student feedback-action Cycle was well-received and was presented in international conference at Wellington, New Zealand. He is currently leading key initiative of the NAAC in empowering the students for quality improvement in higher education. He was also convener of international conference on ‘Student Participation in quality Enhancement’ held at Bangalore in September 2006. He recently Visited USA, on invitation of Higher Learning Commission of North Central Association, Chicago in July 2006.

A son of brave soldier who sacrificed life in war, Dr .JP is engaged in welfare of war widows and families through a society – Shaheed. His contribution has been recognized by various felicitations and awards including Mayboli Bhushan sanman by an NGO in Maharashtra. Recently he has received a prestigious international award by the Government of Australia titled- Endeavour India Executive Award for year 2007.
